Rebuild Trust within the community

Every person deserves to be treated fairly, professionally and with dignity. We can be firm in enforcing law while remaining respectful and compassionate toward those we serve. Service guided by the Constitution protects the rights of each citizen in Pueblo County. 

Public safety will be at the forefront of my administration. We need to focus on the root causes of crime through proactive policing, community partnership, citizen involvement and a dedication to problem solving. Public safety works best when law enforcement and the community work together. Criminals need to know that Pueblo County is a place where crime will not be tolerated and they will be held accountable for their actions.

 

Lead by Example

Being a leader who embraces transparency and accountability are not just words for a campaign. They are a model of actions that earn trust and support from the citizens of Pueblo County. Pueblo deserves a Sheriff who communicates openly, is a good steward of taxpayer dollars, and uses all county resources responsibly. 

The safety and welfare of the employees is one of the highest priorities. Strong organizations are built when employees are trained, supported, and valued. When we take care of those who serve, they are better prepared to complete the mission to take care of our community.

I will work proactively with the employees’ union to strengthen communication and address issues affecting the workplace and together we can work towards solutions that will strengthen our office, not harm it.  I believe the relationship between the Sheriff and employees should never be adversarial; it needs to be a partnership.
